During a student’s placement at Norwood, they will be encouraged to participate in the following features of Norwood's IPCLU:
IPCLU Learning Room A dedicated space for interprofessional team member and student learning. It hosts three computers committed to online research and learning activities, numerous interprofessional resources, and a space for student groups to convene.

Student Pictures & Course Objectives Norwood welcomes students within the interprofessional team and strives to build awareness around the facility. Student pictures and a summary of their course objectives are posted in the IPCLU Learning Room for interprofessional team members and other students to view.

Shadowing Opportunities We encourage students from all professions to experience an interprofessional shadowing opportunity. The Norwood IPCLU Working Group has developed some guidelines to enhance the experience. Guidelines focus on the importance of verbal commentary during the shadowing experience and highlight key interprofessional elements for both the student and the team member to consider during the shadowing opportunity.
Interprofessional Feedback Following any student's interprofessional interactions, they can gather feedback from other team members using the Feedback on Interprofessional Experiences form available in the IPCLU Learning Room or on the Norwood IPCLU website. Students can use the form to request feedback from either their preceptor/instructor or another interprofessional team member to help identify areas of strength and areas for improvement within their interprofessional team functioning.
Interprofessional Rounds Sign-Up CapitalCare Norwood hosts a variety of interprofessional Rounds on different programs at various times. Rounds consist of discussing residents/patients changes, needs and future goals, team findings and updates, and discharge planning (if applicable). Rounds are attended by the interprofessional team and we encourage students to attend and be involved.
Interprofessional Roles Poster
If students or staff are looking for additional information about the role of a Social Worker, Care Manager or Recreation Therapist and how it relates to their professions they can check out our team roles poster in the IPCLU Learning Room. The Interprofessional Roles Poster outlines each profession’s role and the complexities of their interactions. The poster was developed by an Interprofessional Student and is featured in the IPCLU Learning Room.
Reflection Website
Reflection is one of the four key interprofessional competencies in the Interprofessional Learning Pathway, and the Norwood IPCLU website has been designed to facilitate this through our reflection blog. The site encourages team members and students to reflect on their interprofessional experiences and provides a forum to build interprofessional awareness and an increased sense of community.
