Situated in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is the largest freestanding tertiary rehabilitation center in Canada and offers services to children and adults on an inpatient, outpatient, day patient and outreach basis.
As an academic teaching hospital, the Glenrose improves the health, well-being and abilities of our patients through cooperation with our partners, the community, family and caregivers, health care providers, educators and researchers — and offers highly specialized assessment, treatment, consultation and technology services, as well as education for patients and families through more than 130 clinics and services. In addition, we provide mental health and psychiatric services for children and seniors, as well as cardiac rehabilitation for adults.

During a student’s placement on Unit 3A, they are encouraged to participate in the following features of the GLenrose 3A IPCLU:
IPCLU Resource Centre The IPCLU Resource Centre is a dedicated space for interprofessional team member and student learning. It hosts two computers committed to online research and learning activities, and a number of interprofessional and stroke/neuroscience text resources. The IPCLU Resource Centre is open to team members and students from all professions.

IPCLU Board This board can be found in the IPCLU Resource Centre, and features information on the interprofessional learning competencies and opportunities such as IP Rounds, shadowing opportunities or in-services and workshops. Interprofessional articles of interested may also be posted on the IPCLU Board.
Patient Bedside Boards Above each patient bed a whiteboard has been installed to facilitate interprofessional communication with patients and families. Each board features the patient’s name, their activities of daily living and the names of the interprofessional team members and students who are working with them in their care.

Patient Scheduling Board The Patient Scheduling Board is located across from the unit desk and is used as an interprofessional scheduling tool. On the board, each patient is identified along with the name of each of their therapists. The board tracks the patient’s therapy schedules and appointment times, and serves as a quick reference for team and family members to identify the schedule and location of the patient

Stroke Program Interprofessional Team Board The Stroke Interprofessional Team is large and complex. To increase awareness and foster the unit community, the Stroke Program Interprofessional Team Board has pictures of all of the interprofessional team members and students.

Interprofessional Resource Binder The Resource Binder is a tool for staff and students on the 3A team that contains resources pertaining to interprofessional practice, communication/collaboration and team work. The binder also includes information about stroke specific resources and provides a guide to obtaining resources specific to each profession working on the unit.
Interprofessional Appraisal for Student Clinicians - 360° Evaluation The Interprofessional Appraisal for Student Clinicians is designed to provide meaningful feedback and documentation of interprofessional growth during clinical placements. The philosophy of the appraisal model is one of student self-reflection and individual development. This is combined with supportive information from the instructor/preceptor and other stroke team members to provide a balanced, holistic view of the student’s individual and team functioning with the interprofessional team. Glenrose 3A Interprofessional Orientation Website www.glenroseipclu.ca This website features information about the Glenrose and Adult Stroke Rehabilitation Program as well as a brief role description for each of the professions on the team and interprofessional learning resources. Interprofessional learning resources, an introduction to interprofessional communication tools on the unit and links to orientation information that applies to all professions can also be found on the site.
